Nana: 19 month-iversary

STRATFORD, NJ, USA

So, yesterday marked 19 months since I moved in with my grandmom.

I don’t really have much to say this time around, because everything from my last monthly Nana-recap still holds.  My grandmom still continues to decline slowly, but it’s not always immediately noticeable.  The only real changes in the last month are that she has been complaining about back pain, which is a new thing for her.  Also, she hasn’t been eating much, and she is consequently losing a lot of weight.

However, it’s impossible to know if these are permanent changes to be concerned about, or just her going through a rough phase.

She had some basic blood work done last week, but nothing alarming came of it–slightly anemic, possible minor urinary tract infection, but that’s about it.  The visiting nurse comes by every other week and never seems overly concerned.  We’re trying to make a general doctor’s appointment this week, but we’re not really expecting to hear anything shocking.

We’re kind of in a holding pattern.  Which I guess is about par for the course at age 90.

Me?  Not much new to report on.

I’m not sure if I’ve written this here before, but I’ve decided that, after I’m done caring for my grandmom, I’m going to take a long trip before returning to work full-time.  London to India by rail.

That could be a month from now, or a decade from now.  But it’s in the works.

For now, not much news.

:-)

  1. That long trip sounds awesome – London to India? It’s only something I can now dream of – now that the kiddo is in my life. But if you’re anything like me, you’ll LOVE India :) – just remember to have a sense of humour when you’re there.
