Muerte: DC United

STRATFORD, NJ, USA

Since I am no longer a “Featured Blog,” on WordPress (it was fun while it lasted), I no longer feel the need to be insightful.  Which is good, because this post is anything but!

Did anybody watch the DC United soccer game tonight?

Wow.

I watch a lot of sports, but I’d have to think back to about 1993 to remember a loss as disappointing as tonight’s.

In case you missed the game, we (yes, “we;” they’re my team) absolutely blew the first half.  After 45 minutes, we were down 2-0, 3-0 on aggregate.  Then, we absolutely caught fire early in the second half, tying the game 2-2 and still dominating.  In stoppage time, with about 2 minutes left in the game, we scored!  Until it was called back due to a debatable hand ball call.  (You’re not going to believe me, but I swear to you, something random in my imagination this morning pictured Diego Maradonna playing in this game.  I kid you not.)

We kept fighting, but couldn’t quite pull it out.  DC United’s season came to and end.  And with it, so did my plans to visit DC next Thursday to see the next game and get one last burrito:-(

I don’t do game-recap posts very often; they’re just not very interesting.  But damn!  This one hurts!

(And this playoff structure stinks, by the way.)

Next year, I guess.

i Vamos United !

  1. It’s part of the imaginary life when you include yourself as a part of a team you are not, ha. =P
