EAST SYRACUSE, NY
If you’ve been following the countdown of my 10 favorite Syracuse memories, the top 2 have finally been announced. Sorry for the delay. They’re below this entry; scroll on down!
Right now, I’m in a Microtel in East Syracuse. (I believe this is the 13th bed I’ve slept in since May, and the 4th time I’ve moved.) There isn’t a data port in the room, so even though I’m typing this here, this entry won’t be posted until I’m back in NJ. Sorry ’bout that.
My mom came up this afternoon and helped to get all of my stuff out of my room. So Sadler 221 now sits vacant and my key chain hangs more loosely. My time as a resident student at Syracuse University is now behind me. It’s sobering, to say the least.
I’m not glad to see that go, but I suppose it’s time to move on. Still, it’s very tough, because even though I may have started out slowly, I have some amazing memories and I’ve expanded the radius of my circle of friends exponentially. You’ve all been great, and I hate to leave. Really.
Part of me wants to take this opportunity to individually thank the people who have made my time here so great. But there just isn’t enough room. Another part of me says that I should thank the half dozen or so people who have really left their mark on me, because of all of the people that I’ve met, a few really stand out, even among the standouts. But considering that a few of these people were parts of groups in which everyone was awesome (Sadler Staff, Habitat trip, etc.,) I didn’t think it would be right to single out some people and not recognize other great folks. So I won’t. But thank you to everyone. And to those really special people (you know who you are–at least I hope you do, even though one UUTVer probably doesn’t), thank you.
Fear not, I’ll be back soon. I have to be. There’s graduation, of course, but I have to come back next year too. I mean, I still haven’t seen that upside traffic light, and I still haven’t been ice skating in Clinton Square. And the Hershey Bears will be in town at least once. And maybe Barenaked Ladies too. And even if they’re not there at some point, a bunch of great people will be.
Syracuse people, I love you all!
“….And until we meet again, may God hold you in palm of His hands!”
