#6: Day Trip to Ottawa, ON. Part 4 of 9 in a special series.

May 03, 2003

My friend Dan (“Dan the Man.” It’s neccessary to specify considering that there are currently at least 6 Dans who are involved in my life in some way) is a big Philadelphia Flyers fan, and he knows I really like hockey too, so when he and his friend Matt (who I only vaguely knew before the trip but who turned out to be a pretty nice guy) decided to head on up to Ottawa to see the Flyers play the Senators in an NHL playoff game, he invited me to come along. Now I’m not a fan of either team, and I thought the tickets were ridiculously expensive, but I like to take daytrips, especially to places I’ve never been before, so I simply couldn’t pass it up. Even though I only slept for a couple of hours the night before, I still had a great time. In the spirit of a true International Relations geek, my highlight was probably getting my picture taken in front of Canadian Parliment. We got back late, and although there wasn’t any deep meaning to the day or anything like that, it was just an all-around fun time.
